EDITH BELLE LIBBY LIBRARY PLANS FOR ANNUAL SEASIDE ART FESTIVAL
AT OLD ORCHARD BEACH’S MEMORIAL PARK

The Edith Belle Libby Library adequate for the needs of the community in the 1950’s has outgrown its ability to meet the needs of the citizens.  A Mecca for learning and research has stretched its ability to provide adequate space for services in the electronic age and combined with a population more than double it was when the building open over fifty year’s ago it is now impossible to offer the level and variety of service that the Library Board and Staff wants to provide and to which the citizens of Old Orchard Beach deserve.

The Board of Trustees and Building Committee with the assistance of a professional library consultant is in the process of developing a building program including significant expansion of the present building and major renovation to the existing structure.

The Campaign’s kick-off in conjunction with the Saco Bay Artists will be part of the first Annual Seaside Art Festival at Memorial Park in Old Orchard Beach on Saturday, July 26 with a rain date of Sunday, July 27, 2008.  With the participation of over a hundred artists this will be a fine beginning for the promotion of the Library’s Building Program but also provide an enormous positive image to our community.
